well, actually the setiathome binary works just fine. It's the xsetiathome 
binary that is being the problem child here. When I attempt to run seti with 
the graphical interface I get a segmentation fault or some other strange 
error and I have to kill the process in order to get things straightened out 
and running again.

I don't mind running the verbose text  mode but I do like to watch the 
graphical interface from time to time.
