any thoughts? seti on win 2000 server and professional

This might be interesting...
I have a computer with an AMD 450. My girlfriend has a computer with a P2 350.

for the past year her computer was on windows 98.

Last year my computer was on 98 also, and it was (as one might expect),
slightly faster at seti chunks than hers.

Then, last year,  I went to NT4 Workstation, and my computer slightly speeded
up. I then went to NT4 Server, and it stayed speeded up.

Recently I went to seti 3.03, and at the same time went onto Win 2000 Server.
Chunks took longer, and I attributed that to the seti 3.03.

Now here's the hitch...

Recently, I put my girls computer onto Win 2000 Professional, and it speeded
up significantly,  she is now doing chunks in just more than half the time
mine takes on 2000 Server.

It seems, though my computer has always been slightly faster than hers, now
Professional has made hers significantly faster than mine on Server.

So, I got to thinking...

I am not yet super familiar with 2000, but I was wondering about how many
threads were always running in both O/S's.

In Professional, I found that when sitting "idle", it had 24 "tasks" running.
In my Server O/S, there are 44 "processes" running. I although I am yet not
enough familiar with the differentiation between "tasks" and "processes", (if
there is any), it appears that my Server is running twice as many services
when "idle", than her's on Professional, and that would account for why her
traditionally slower computer has suddenly pulled way ahead of mine.    Also,
this speed difference was not so between the two versions of NT4.

Little difficult to get a deeper investigation with so much else going on in
life...but I plan to put in a partition of Professional into my computer and
see if it again becomes faster than hers. I'm expecting that it will again
become just slightly faster than hers, rather than staying twice as slow as
hers.

Thought some might be interested in this possible great speed difference
between Server and Professional.
