I believe they increased the time to 28 days for a work unit to be considered old.  They did this at the same time hey switched to v3.03.

The work unit will expire before you finish it. I know that there is some time limit on the return of the work unit. Maybe someone else can shed some light on it. I think a week is it, but I'm not sure. Sorry to burst your bubble..

I just fired up an old 486 DX4-75 laptop.  Per my calculations it will take approx 344 hours to complete the current work unit. (With 20.2% done in 70 hrs, 13 min.) That will certainly outlast any downtime at Seti@home's web site !!!
 
Just joking, not a serious recommendation. But the old 486 is crunching away !!
