in 2.5 yrs., huh. Let's see, that's about 7 bucks a month. Now days that will
barely get you a meal at McDonalds. Personally I don't think that that is much
of a big deal. Besides, it's the whole idea of Distributed computing... to
share the cost of the research amongst a large group of individuals. I've seen
and heard of people wasting money on hobbies that have a lot less of a possible
impact on society than S@H, but that's my feeling. In the end everything comes
down to what you want to do.
If
you're really competitive and you want to complete a lot of WU's as fast as you
can, then you won't mind the little extra cost each month, but if you're just
running S@H to watch the pretty colors on the screen saver, then turn the
computer off at the end of the day. Not only will you save electricity, but
Windows prefers it as well.
On a
lighter note, it must be nice being able to let your computer(s) run all night.
My dually Athalon sounds like an aircraft carrier while it's running, so when I
go to bed, it does too! :)
