plone.org is actually not well tuned at all ;-( it has been neglected for years and there should be a migration to latest Plone software Real Soon Now + extra tuning.
Thats quite reassuring from the point of view of speeding up our own site.Yesterday I was waiting some time for a page to load from plone.org, titled "Optimising performance"
