There may be 2 bugs at play here... 

There is definately a bug in the navigation tree, which is what causes the nav
and main page content to abort.   That bug effects Zope2.8/Linux also (when
behind Apache2, going direct at the Zope port works).

Removing here/portlet_navigation/macros/portlet allows the page to render on
Linux, I'd be curious to know if it works for the Windows crowd also.
