Title: RE: [Setup] OS debian?

I would suggest using Ubuntu and either their packaging or running from tarball's.
I don't think packaging gets you very far w/ Plone, IMHO.

But this is coming from someone who focuses on Windows distribution of Zope/Plone.

cheers

Subject: [Setup] OS debian?

Hi all,

i'll be starting a company soon using Plone/Zope, and have been
shopping around for a good foundation (OS) to lay it on and have some
doubts on whether my choice has been a good long standing decision.

Debian sarge was the OS chosen. I've looked into Suse, but due to
financial cutbacks, I won't be able to use it. Though...there's an
open source version which I'm not sure of its reliability in
comparison with the Enterprise version.

Now, seeing the 'latest' thread of a migration from debian to windows
concerns me. Was my choice a good one?

Couple of things that I am unsure of. Are the stable package releases
sufficient for the Plone/Zope? Or will I be running into issues that I
have not seen yet. Bearing in mind that I'm a close-to-complete newbie
in this whole entire arena.

I hope that you all will bear with my lack of knowledge. Hope that
you'll be able to give me some worthwhile advice...?

Kwang
