Hmm, I've done several 3.x -> 3.y migrations and the only time it didn't work was when I missed a minor step in the migration directions and the error was similar - I couldn't navigate around the site. Not that that is necessarily the case here. It may very well be something else entirely but I'm afraid I do not know what it could be unless it has something to do with 4.x and global definitions<http://plone.org/documentation/manual/upgrade-guide/version/upgrading-plone-3-x-to-4.0/updating-add-on-products-for-plone-4.0/no-more-global-definitions-in-templates>.
If possible, I would suggest you start from the beginning and try it again making sure to not miss anything and reading all the READMEs. If that fails then I would suggest going to the chat room and asking for help. They're quite knowledgeable. Just make sure to follow the instructions below the chat screen.
