Well, everything is OK. The log was grown over several gigabytes so someone did turn the logging into "critical". I loaded a copy of the whole plone on another computer with loglevel INFO and reinstalled the Hotfix, now it was clearly on screen and also in the log.
Maybe the other cases on other threads, stating also that there ins nothing to see, have to do with turned off or very low log levels.
