Hi again,
good news. I have repeated the tests now with Nitrogen (0.7.0) and
they seem to work much better. I can destroy the chains, sfps, rsps, and
classifiers and flows get updated accordingly in each switch.
I noticed however some leftovers in some cases: I saw exceptions when
deleting classifiers from the GUI and maybe this led to leave some old
flows installed. However they were not a problem after re-creating all
the items in the configuration.
So, for now migrating to Nitrogen solves the issue.
Best Regards,
Miguel Ángel.

I'm repeating the tests with Carbon SR1 and I get the same results:
Flows are not deleted when chains/sfp/rsp are removed.
If I additionally and manually remove flows in ovs and let ODL
re-create them they are not equal to the original scenario and do not
work properly.
So, for now the only alternative I see is to delete flows manually in
the switches and restart/repopulate ODL.

Hi Jaime,
I delete everything: Chains, SFPs and RSPs but the flows are still
there (in classifiers and SFFs). Btw, I'm using demo103 as my
testbed, though a bit modified with more chains and sfs.
Thanks,
BR,
Miguel Ángel.

Hello Miguel Angel
I am not aware of this problem. Did you check midway that the flows
were removed in the first place?

Hi again everyone,
I still doing some more tests with ODL. This time I'm trying to:
a) delete chains previously created (including SFP and RSP)
b) modifying chains without destroying them, that is, having a chain
going through SF1 then modify it so that it goes through SF1+SF2.
This
also includes recreation of SFP and RSP (there is not modify
operation
for RSP).
In both cases a) and b) I do the required changes and then recreate
the
RSPs so that the flows get updated in OVS.
Both a) and b) report 200 OK for every operation but there is no
change
in the flows and the traffic keeps going through the same paths as
before.
Has anyone experienced this before? Is removal and modification of
chains allowed and working?
I'm using ODL Carbon.
Thank you,
Best Regards,
Miguel Ángel Muñoz.
