Firebird 1.5.0alpha3 available (Sunday October 27, @08:12AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/27/1320207
Firebird is a relational database offering many ANSI SQL-92 features
that runs on Linux, Windows, and a variety of Unix platforms. Firebird
offers excellent concurrency, high performance, and powerful language
support for stored procedures and triggers. It has been used in
production systems, under a variety of names since 1981. Homepage:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/firebird/ Don't forget that this
release is still an Alpha! It may blow up to your face, but it may also
work better than you expect from an alpha-quality release (our measures
are quite hard, so an Alpha may work better than many production
versions). Anyway, use it only for testing, not for production systems.
Although this release have not (yet) an installer and the documentation
is brief, you should not have any problems to get it running and taste
the flavour of new version.

JMRI Model Railroad Interface v1.0.9 available (Saturday October 26, @04:59AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/26/104207
The JMRI project is building tools for model railroad computer control.
We want it to be usable to as many people as possible, so we're
building it in Java to run anywhere, and we're trying to make it
independent of specific hardware systems. Like the CMRI system before
it, JMRI is intended as a jumping-off point for hobbyists who want to
control their layouts from a computer without having to create an
entire system from scratch. Homepage: http://jmri.sourceforge.net/
Changes: 1) Fix splash screen (Mike Davison); 2) New "all CV" decoder
definition (Robin Becker); 3) Clean up short/long address on
Comprehensive programmer format; 4) Minor improvements to XML parsing
of definition files; 5) Roster now shows in lexical order;
Scope: a generic MVC framework v1.0 released (Friday October 25, @08:15AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/25/1322253
Scope is a framework built around an extensible implementation of the
Hierarchical Model-View-Controller (HMVC) pattern similar to the
pattern described in HMVC: The layered pattern for developing strong
client tiers. It provides an easy-to-use Java library that can be used
as a basis for component-oriented application development following the
layered architecture detailed in Sun's J2EE and in Cheesman/Daniels:
UML Components. Applications developed using Scope are
"view-agnostic": a Swing application uses the same
infrastructure and patterns as a web application that happens to use
XML/XSLT to generate HTML, or a JSP-based application. The framework
has been used in production systems built using the default Swing and
XML/XSL Servlet implementations, as well as proprietary VoiceXML,
ColdFusion and custom XML/XSLT implementations. Homepage:
http://scope.sourceforge.net/ It's a major bugfixing release.
GPSMap v0.4.7 released (Friday October 25, @04:45AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/25/0949224
GPSMap is a Java application that is able to display maps like in an
atlas and show your position by the use of a gps device. It may track
your path, load overlays (e.g. shape files), download maps from
mapblast or expedia servers. Homepage:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsmap/ Changes: - allow configuration
of the "ignore nmea checksum"; - added text for graticule
lines; - changed resource editor (remembers size/pos, is created in
background (opens much faster now!), some other minor bugfixes); -
added dialog for lock-file removal (or ignore them) for the serial port
lock files. as I found out later, this is only a problem on suse 8.0 as
on this system, a symbolic link from /var/spool/locks to /var/lock
exists and rxtx is not prepared to see its lock file in this foreign
directory. After having removed the link, rxtx deletes stale lock files
on itself; - added window for viewing gps data (nmea);
EJTools v1.0.0 released (Friday October 25, @04:35AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/25/0942219

Browser, a JMX Browser, a Management Console, a Deployment Console and
others. Homepage: http://ejtools.sourceforge.net/
JASA alpha8 available (Friday October 25, @04:31AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/25/0934251
JASA allows researchers in agent-based computational economics to write
high-performance trading simulations using a number of different
auction protocols. The software also provides base classes for
implementing simple adaptive trading agents. Homepage:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/jasa/

to an sshd server and use port forwarding, X11 forwarding, file
transfer, etc., and you can integrate its functionality into your own
Java programs. http://www.jcraft.com/jsch/ Changes: - 3des-cbc is
supported; - hmac-sha1 is supported; - hmac-md5-96 is supported; -
hmac-sha1-96 is supported;

http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/24/2022203
Jaxor provides a java code generation engine for creating an object to
relational mapping layer based upon XML metadata. SQL is generated as
well as an extensible mapping layer. Homepage:

The Freenet Project v0.5rc1 available (Thursday October 24, @05:27AM)
http://java.foundries.sourceforge.net/article.pl?sid=02/10/24/1034219
Freenet is free software designed to ensure true freedom of
communication over the Internet. It allows anybody to publish and read
information with complete anonymity. Nobody controls Freenet, not even
its creators, meaning that the system is not vulnerable to manipulation
or shutdown. Freenet is also efficient in how it deals with
information, adaptively replicating content in response to demand. We
have and continue to pioneer innovative new ideas such as the
application of emergent behavior to computer communication, and
public-key cryptography to creating secure namespaces. For more
information please read this paper on the Freenet architecture.
