This could potentially be implemented in the GNOME client. For now, a workaround is to use the sflphone-callto script which you can download here: https://projects.savoirfairelinux.com/projects/sflphone/repository/revisions/master/raw/tools/sflphone-callto Invoke it with ./sflphone-callto SIP_URI It's not great but it at least shows you how to write such a script.
