I am still looking for a stable softphone solution and - given the new version 1.4 and some new hardware - I thought I would give sflphone another spin.

In my previous attempt the received sound was very good, but I was never able to get anything but noise from my microphone. With my new (more powerfull) hardware I can now make call - although sound quality from my microphone to the other part is still not very good. Another problem: If I touch the "SFLPhone capture" control under "Capture Streams" in KMixer, then microphone sound disappears immediately.

I can control the input level under "Capture Devices" but I think this behavior indicates some problem with the pulseaudio/SFLPhone relation.

My current setup is:
Opensuse 13.1

sflphone-client-kde4-1.4.0.git-11.1.x86_64
sflphone-1.4.0.git-11.1.x86_64
From the szotsaki repository. Build 4 days ago.

pulseaudio-4.0.git.270.g9490a-12.1.x86_64

I have adjusted pulseaudio settings according to this description
http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/linux-and-open-source/pulseaudio-an-achilles-heel-that-needs-repair/
My setup is able to make good quality sound recordings with both Audacity and arecord.

Any suggestions on how to debug further?
