Thin Computing Solutions
Wednesday November 2, 8:00 am ET
Sun and Wyse to Jointly Market Thin Computing Solutions Based on Sun
Secure Global Desktop Software and Wyse Thin Clients

SAN JOSE, Calif. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Wyse
Technology, the global leader in thin computing, and Sun Microsystems
(Nasdaq: SUNW - News), today announced a strategic alliance to deliver
end-to-end thin computing solutions. Sun and Wyse will jointly market
solutions based on Wyse thin clients and Sun(TM) Secure Global Desktop
Software (Sun SGDS). The combination of these two market leaders offers
enterprise customers broad-scale access to industry leading thin
computing solutions, comprising thin clients, server and software
infrastructure and services.

As part of the collaboration, Sun and Wyse plan to work cooperatively on
joint engineering projects, customer engagements, channel partner
programs, and co-marketing initiatives. Wyse plans to also bundle the
Sun SGDS client software on its S- and V-Class thin clients across three
operating system platforms, including Linux, WindowsCE and Windows XPe.
The unique architecture behind Sun SGDS client software provides Wyse
customers with highly secure access to applications on a variety of
operating systems. The end-to-end solution, including Sun Fire(TM)
X2100, Sun Fire X4100 and Sun Fire X4200 servers powered with AMD
Opteron(TM) processors will be available through Sun and Wyse joint
channel partners.

"By combining market and engineering leadership from Wyse and Sun,
customers will benefit from the seamless integration of best-of-breed
technology that will ultimately deliver virtually unmatched security,
performance, reliability and manageability," said John Kish, President
and CEO, Wyse Technology. "Both companies are committed to driving more
and more intelligence into the network and simplifying complexity at the
edge. Thin computing solutions leveraging Wyse solutions at the edge and
Sun infrastructure represent a very powerful solution for the market,
helping customers to purchase and easily deploy integrated, end to end
solutions."

"With our Secure Global Desktop Software and Solaris 10, Sun is
delivering the most advanced infrastructure on the planet for the secure
delivery of applications to client devices in heterogeneous
environments," said John Loiacono, Executive Vice President of Software
at Sun Microsystems. "Our agreement with Wyse, the global leader in thin
computing, expands the market for thin client solutions and reaffirms
our assertion that 'The Network is the Computer (TM).'"

With Sun's desktop software platform users can securely access
enterprise and desktop applications from a Wyse thin client. Sun SGDS
allows customers to web-enable legacy applications instantly without
costly re-writes, and deliver those applications side-by-side with
modern server-based applications quickly and cost-effectively to a wide
variety of client devices. This approach breaks down traditional
remote-access barriers by delivering applications over the intranet,
extranet or even the Internet with industry-leading security and
encryption, without installing any software on enterprise application
servers.

"The collaboration of Sun and Wyse will expand the opportunities for
thin client solutions in the enterprise market," said Kim Stevenson,
Vice President of Infrastructure Portfolio, EDS. "Customers are
increasingly looking to deploy thin computing solutions to simplify
their operating environments. Sun and Wyse joining forces will improve
the integration of thin computing solutions allowing EDS to strengthen
our thin computing portfolio and provide our clients with a robust and
secure desktop environment that delivers a superior end user experience."
