Also, have a look under your $INSTDIR//webserver/tomcat/5.0.28_axis1.2/webapps/sgd/admin/loaddist directory, and read through the swcd.jsp file. This provides a load-balancing mechanism that you can use, and supports RR DNS as one option. If you prefer a RR DNS approach it can be a little touchy due to certificate names; in particular, you can't allow connections to use the load-balanced names, else you might get connections arriving at the wrong server, not generally a good thing. The above jsp will help avoid that as well. There are a couple of ways to avoid SSL certificate mismatches when using psuedo-names like, for example, sgd.soft.com. One way is to use wildcards in your Servername - but I think we've decided the better approach is to set the ServerAltName of your server certificates to be the RR name, since most / all(?) browsers support this, and I think most CA's can do this as well (self-signed certs can do it, too, with a few changes.)

Some have redirects from http to https, you can do this with a bit of mod_rewrite script like:

<VirtualHost _default_:80>
  RewriteEngine on
  RewriteRule ^(.*)  https://tta1.example.com/$1  [R,L]
</VirtualHost >

Many people also want to avoid the standard Apache index page where locale and client are chosen, and redirect users directly to the sgd client url. After setting AllowOverrides, you can do something simple like;

Redirect /index.html https://servername/sgd

in a .htaccess file or replace index.html with something like:

<html>
<head>
<title> SGD Redirect Page</title>
<meta HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" content="0; url=/sgd">
</head>
</html>

Just some options to consider - but definitely start with the swcd.jsp.

Momamed,

Take a look at http://docs.sun.com/source/820-1088/loadbalancing_intro.html

Dear SGD-Users,

Let say, i have installed and configured one sgd server with hostname "sgd-01.soft.com". When the sgd server has been deploy, i will ask all the users to access the sgd portal by typing http://sgd-01.soft.com.

Now, i have configured second sgd server with hostname "sgd-02.soft.com". I have added this server as secondary to the sgd-01.soft.com. Physically we have two sgd servers.

Definitely, user doesn't like to choose the sgd servers to access to, like user1 type http://sgd-01.soft.com and user2 type http://sgd-02.soft.com.

Question:
---------
1. What url address, i have to tell to the users so that they can access to SGD portal ? 2. Can i do trick in DNS entry by adding sgd.soft.com and its refer to sgd-01.soft.com and sgd-02.soft.com ?
3. What is the best practice for the above SGD setup ?

Appreciate if given some extra guides. Thanks.
