Kenneth Lewis (Bank of America) talked about the financial crisis and economic
slowdown of 2008. His focus was not on Wall Street, where investment banks have
been disappearing, but the impact on Main Street banks, where tight credit,
scarce jobs, and home foreclosures are exerting economic pressure on all
Americans. Mr. Lewis discusses the state of the recessionary economy; the
housing market, and forecast a recovery timeline.
This address to the Executives' Club of Chicago Global Leaders Luncheon, held
at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, was titled "Banking on Main Street."
