Karl Meyer and Shareen Blair Brysac talked about their book, Kingmakers: The 
Invention of the Modern Middle East (W.W. Norton and Co.; June 17, 2008). In 
the book the authors present a history of the British and American involvement 
in the Middle East. From Lawrence of Arabia to Paul Wolfowitz, the authors 
recount how these officials shaped the region from the drawing of borders to 
the establishment of leaders. The authors responded questions from the audience 
following their remarks.

Karl Meyer is the editor emeritus of the World Policy Journal. Mr. Meyer is the 
author of numerous books, including The Dust of Empire and Tournament of 
Shadows, co-authored with Shareen Blair Brysac. He is an editorial board member 
of the Washington Post and the New York Times.
Shareen Blair Brysac is the author of Resisting Hitler and Tournament of 
Shadows, co-authored with Mr. Meyer. She was formerly a producer at CBS News.
