Sowing Crisis: The Cold War and American Dominance in the Middle East In his new book, Rashid Khalidi takes a look at the involvement of the United States and the Soviet Union in the Middle East during the Cold War and discusses how that involvement influenced what is happening there today. Professor Khalidi spoke about his book at Politics and Prose Bookstore in Washington, DC. Rashid Khalidi is the Edward Said Chair in Arab Studies at Columbia University, where he is also director of the Middle East Institute. He is the author of "Resurrecting Empire" and has written op-ed pieces in the New York Times, the Boston Globe, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and The Nation.
