Subject: Robert Higgs on Book TV

Excellent interview aired on C-Span2 this morning of one who epitomizes free
enterprise which is sadly too often confused with monopoly capitalism,
especially in Washington city.

If nothing else is gained from the interview, Robert Higgs, whose hero is Von
Mises, made one extremely important point: BIGGER IS NOT BETTER! He really
wasn't referring to the rash of dieting plans and weight-loss concoctions
advertised on TV, though the idea is also there-applicable. He was talking
about government, particularly of the current mass irresponsibility aired at
concocting a world slave-state. While irresponsibility is the root of societal
decline and death, the greedy humanoid desire to dominate is also extremely
powerful.

You see humanoid greed everywhere, especially as government disintegrates away
from whatever freedom concept it once pretended to have, and towards total
dominance of as many people as it may subjugate. At one time the USSR was the
guilty party. Today the US is universally despised and for good reason. Most
startling is that outsiders still struggle to gain entrance to our dying
economy, because the freedom concept that started it off is still alive in
their eyes.

The one big point Mr. Higgs left us with that proves the decline of our society
when the subversive 1787 Con-Job was imposed, was that when you eliminate
choice between competing governments, you eliminate the people's choices of
havens from dominance. Under our superior Articles of Confederation of 1777
(based as it was on the earlier Algonquin Confederation), we had thirteen
sovereign states. If you found freedom waning in one state, you were free to
move to another. This kept government in check. Then after thirteen years of
freedom and independence, including the winning of that independence from the
British Crown, our moneyed Founding Scoundrels snatched freedom away from the
people and eliminated their free choice between no-longer competing governments.

You can extend the idea of competition to other declining areas of present
society, most dangerously in the money and banking scam. Allowing banks to
cross state lines has increased bank dominance - and their reciprocal control
over un-checked government - to where the people at large are now mere pawns in
the games of their masters. This used to be called feudalism. Is it any
different? Banks, like governments, should be strictly local affairs, if we
allow non-usurious banks, their area of operation should be limited to a state,
or better yet a county.

I don't know if Mr. Higgs gets into an understanding of Exodus 18:21 government
in his writing. I'll have to find out. There he would fully understand how to
defeat the democratic scourge that pits competing groups within a society, each
with the goal of dominance of others. Ordinarily competition is a valuable
means of obtaining a worthwhile goal, but not when that goal is the elimination
of freedom for others.

reinstitute freedom one day, out of the ashes of the current dying
civilization, we'd better start studying the past.
