Rick Steves, the author of travel guides for Europe and many European 
countries, talked about and showed slides of his recent trip to Iran and his 
television special for PBS. After spending 10 days filming in Iran for the 
PBS special, Mr. Steves says that the country is the "the most poorly 
understood yet fascinating land" he has ever visited. He responded to 
questions submitted by audience members.

Rick Steves is the author of many travel guides for Europe and hosts travel 
shows on public television and public radio. Mr. Steves also writes a weekly 
syndicated column for the Chicago Tribune. He was writing a book called 
Travel as a Political Act.
