Monday 24 August 2009 Report: Justice Department Advises Pursuing CIA Abuses http://www.truthout.org/082409A?n Devlin Barrett, The Associated Press: "The Justice Department's ethics office has recommended that Attorney General Eric Holder reopen and pursue several CIA prisoner-abuse cases, a government official said Monday, amid a report that President Barack Obama has approved creation of a special unit of interrogators reporting directly to the White House. Subjecting prisoner abuse cases to possible prosecution would reverse the policy of the Bush administration, which had closed the cases."
Iraqi Refugees Find US Life Not What They Expected http://www.truthout.org/082409B?n Alexandra Zavis, The Los Angeles Times: "On a pleasant afternoon in Amman, the genteel Jordanian capital, a petite Iraqi woman with carefully coiffed hair, heavy makeup and lots of gold jewelry sat in a classroom full of refugees heading to America, her face frozen in wide-eyed horror. Her husband had disappeared in the war. Her request to settle in Jordan had been denied. Now an advisor from the International Organization for Migration was telling her no U.S. firm would recognize her law degree or her nearly two decades of experience." --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "ShadowGovernment" group.
