RALPH NADER: Ever wonder what's happening to words once they fall into the hands of corporate and government propagandists? Too often reporters and editors don't wonder enough. They ditto the words even when the result is deception or doubletalk. Here are some examples. Day in and day out we read about "detainees" imprisoned for months or years by the federal government in the U.S., Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan. Doesn't the media know that the correct word is "prisoners," regardless of what Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld disseminated? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Doesn't the media know the correct term for "9/11" is "unsolved crimes of mass murder?" The catastrophe of 9/11/2001 remains without context. We constantly hear newscasters and pundits make references like: "since 9/11..." But too few people really agree what meaning is conveyed by uttering "9/11" even though they hear it parroted all the time. After 8 years, the bulk of Americans who have no investment in the issue and have no familiy in the military will likely accept the term "9/11" as a reference to a widely agreed historical fact that was commited by foreign enemies as an attack on the United States. Military families may view "9/11" as the reason their son or daughter enlisted in the military - suppressing any latent and "conscious" second thoughts. The realists in the 9/11 Truth groups interpret "9/11" as an unsolved crime of mass murder, a False Flag event commited as an excuse for war, a government cover-up, or a combination of all three.
