We have 200,000 highly paid people who spend 1/4 of their time looking for
stuff, looking for stuff, and they are only finding, if they are lucky,
they are only finding 20 to 30% of what they need. they spend another quarter
of their time fighting editorial problems from layers of management. We
need a non secret open source decision support. If you put enough brains on
it, no problem is unsolvable. Diversity, clarity, and transparency matter.
Information share, is information multiplied. It is still held at the
original place, but now it has the advantage of diversity. It is possible to
create the unclassified government decision support life boat.

The secret of intelligence is not secret, not federal, and not expensive.

The US government is making foreign policy based on bad information,
because they can get away with it. If we have open source information, that the
public has a grip on, then it holds the government accountable to not be
ideologically stupid.

If you're an average American taxpayer, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan
have, since 2001, cost you personally $7,334, according to the _"cost of wa
r" counter_ ( http://www.costofwar.com/ ) created by the _National Priorities
Project_ ( http://www.nationalpriorities.org/ ) (NPP).

They have cost all Americans collectively more than $980,000,000,000. As
a country, we'll pass the trillion dollar mark soon. These are staggering
figures and, despite the $72.3 billion that Congress has already ponied up
for the Afghan War in 2010 ($136.8 billion if you add in Iraq), the
administration is about to
go back to Congress for more than _$35 billion in outside-the-budget
supplemental funds_

The most powerful -- and frightening -- part of the book is Johnson and
Kwak's breakdown of how, over the last 30 years, Wall Street has come to so
thoroughly dominate American politic Just as important as the flow of money
has been the flow of Wall Streeters into positions of power. The book
"makes it clear why ending 'too big to fail' and reforming the institutions
that
perpetuate it... are essential for our nation's future economic prosperity
and, more fundamentally, our democratic system." Clearly, the need to
reform our out-of-control financial system is not a right vs. left issue.
