That's the subnet mask.  combined with the ip address of the nic, the range
is 192.168.10.0 to 192.168.10.255.  This is the same on both nic's and
breaks down routing inside the STN box.  You need to make one of the nics on
a differenet subnet.  If you change the internal subnet, you have to change
all your existing machines.  If you change the external Nic, then you have
to get your ISP to make a change that puts the DSL router on the same
subnet.  

Either way, it will involve work, but you have to do it.  

You mentioned that you have a server that you need to be able to access via
the Internet.  What's it's purpose in life and how can it be access unless
the DSL router maps specific port #'s to the server, since the addresses you
use are all non-Internet addresses.
