You should be able to use something as small/old as a 386 with 8 meg RAM,
John.

I'm using an old 486/DX33 with 8 meg RAM with a dial-up connection
supporting only 4 connections and that works quite well.

As for DNS, you could always aim it at "another" resolver, but your ISP is
usually "fastest", and since it's also the closest you may not see
measurable improvement by going elsewhere.

Are you using DHCP for your client machines???
Are you pointing your client machines at your STN box for *their* DNS???

I've been very happy with my STN box, tho there are a *very* few features
I'd like to see added. It was well worth the purchase price...

Subject: [ShareTheNet] 25 users on school network

Hello
This is my first posting. I have tried ShareTheNet on a 2 computer
network running windows/95 and find it to work well with my cable modem.
I am curious as to anyones experience using ShareTheNet for 25 users. I
would like to set up a small network at a local school using
ShareTheNet. Any tips? What would be the optimum hardware for my
ShareTheNet gateway box? Is their a way to enhance the DNS lookup
feature? The cable isp has 2 DNS servers but both seem slow sometimes.
Thanks in advance for your input!
