Group,

My employer has installed Bay Networks Extranet hardware/software to
allow employees to tunnel into the corporate network using the Extranet
Client which I think uses IPsec. I have the Extranet Client installed
on my WIN98 PC and it works just fine if the PC is connected directly to the
internet. But, when I try to use it behind the STN router, It times out
trying to connect to the host. The sockets in use window does show a
connection from my Win98 pc to the VPN Server on port 500, but it eventually
times out.

I noted that the Linux IP MASQ FAQs talked about patching the Linux kernel to
allow VPN. As a test, I loaded up RedHat 6.0 and was able to patch the kernel
and get the Extranet VPN Client to work when running using RedHat as the
router/firewall, but I would much prefer to use STN.

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. STN
has been rock solid for the last 2 years and my switch to a cable modem
went in with no problems. Hopefully VPN can/will be handled also.

Thanks!

Ron
