Have you turned on "ident" in STN? some IRC clients need it IIRC.

Does anyone know how to configure STN firewall rules so that you can use the
"normal" TalkCity IRC clients (either Pirch98 for TalkCity or EZTalk 3.0
java
client)?
I can get it to work with their HTML based chat system with no config
changes,
but it's really slow and annoying. It reloads the HTML chat page every few
seconds...
When I try one of the regular chat clients, I get a "connection refused".
It seems that it's trying to authenticate me, but can't.
I don't know if it's a port thing or an IP masquerading problem.
It uses a different port each time I click the connect button, the ranges
I've
seen are somewhere between 1400 and 4700. They seem to be sequential. Each
time I get a failure message, it reports the next port number.
Anyway, I've played around with the ipfwadm command in the "Manual Startup
Commands", but no luck.
Here's my latest attempt, which didn't work.

ipfwadm -I -a accept -P tcp -S 64.210.160.0/24 1024:65535 -D 192.168.0.1
ipfwadm -O -a accept -P tcp -S 192.168.0.1 -D 192.168.0.104 1024:65535
ipfwadm -I -a accept -P udp -S 64.210.160.0/24 1024:65535 -D 192.168.0.1
ipfwadm -O -a accept -P udp -S 192.168.0.1 -D 192.168.0.104 1024:65535
I've had a hard time finding man pages or documentation on ipfwadm.
I may not even be using the right command. I don't know.
If you know what to do, please let me know.
