John, Been reading this list now for about a month, since I decided to add ADSL and build a home network, and have found the discussion very useful. I hope you will remian steadfast in your desire to remain true to STN's original design concepts -- performance, simplicity and ease of use. I know some find it tempting to continually "improve" software, but I always believe if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And STN works, very well in my opinion. I've had the latest version running for a few weeks and have literally forgotten it's there. It would be interesting to see someone come up with a turnkey router based on your software. 486-based PC hardware must be pretty cheap these days, and you could substitute flash ROM for the floppy. Make the thing about the size of a hub. In fact, why not throw in a few extra parts and make it a hub, too? Have the thing come pre-configured with an internal IP number (no need to configure NICs) so you can throw it on your network and complete the configuration via the web interface. Do you think the home network market is ready for a $99 router? Any engineers out there with ideas for this (cost is the major consideration)?
