NO! You need to identify the ethernet controller chip it uses -- that
information is not readily available on the SMC web site but it should
be
easy enough to find by looking at the card and/or documentation you
received.

Regardless, neither of the two drivers you've already tried are going to
work (nor will the others - "SMC Ultra 32" nor
"Kingston,Linksys,SMC8432,SMC9332" founded under the "untested" portion
of the STN GUI ethernet card choices.)

I'm 99% sure that card either uses:

- a Tulip driver (listed in STN Windoze GUI program "untested" section
which puts "tulip.o" in the modules folder) if your SMC1211TX uses a
"DEC 21140" type ethernet controller (assuming it's an older SMC
EtherPower series)

- OR -

- has a "SMSC 83c170" ethernet type controller which needs to be driven
by the "epic100.o" driver that included in STN modules library -- BUT
I didn't see a selection available from STN GUI that would write "envi"
file correctly and place this driver in the "modules" folder as needed
to build an STN boot diskette the card (assuming it's an SMC EtherPower
II series)

I believe the latter of these two choices is most likely correct for the
SMC1211TX. Although the "epic100.o" driver is included in the STN
modules library, it doesn't appear that this driver is selectable in the
STN Windoze program. If it hasn't yet been added to the GUI, you can
either ask John how to add it or change the "envi" file with an editor
and copy the driver manually to the STN boot diskette.
