First, I'm a novice to Linux and this software.

I originally downloaded and purchased 2.0.5, set it up on an Win95 box,
configured it and it
worked fine.

When 2.1.0 came out I downloaded it and installed in onto another Win95
computer. I opened
my original STN diskette from version 2.0.5, made no changes and saved
in onto another
diskette. Wanting the new web controls and the possibility of setting
up a web server.

I booted this new diskette on the same box and it couldn't find the 3com
card for the outbound
connection to the cable modem ( which was found on 2.0.5). Ended up
needing to change the
known irq address to auto on the configuration. Resaved and it found
the card.

But, I could never get it to connect to Mediaone (cable modem).

On version 2.0.5, I would see:

Starting S50dhcpd....
Waiting up to 60 seconds for network information....

(the would hang for about that long and then display)

Starting S60masq....
Starting S70named...
Starting S80dcpd
Starting S90Admin

and I would have an internet connection. But in 2.1.0 it would just
flies through the lines. On
the cable modem I can see the pc connection light come on but I can't
get out to the net. I cant
get to the configuration screen through the intranet and I can login an
access configuration
settings. But unable to connect to the net.

I'm back to running 2.0.5 (really with no complaints) but would like to
be able to understand why
2.1.0 is giving me such trouble. I tried adding and removing dhcp and
dns but to no avail.

I noticed that on 2.10 if you check dhcp a dialog box opens in lower
left hand corner with
information to be filled out but this doesn't appear in 2.0.5. Maybe I
need this info filled out? But
when I open the 2.0.5 disk into 2.1.0 this information was blank (but
again 2.0.5 didn't need this
to work).

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Mediaone is supposedly going to switch to Roadrunner in my neck of the
woods and thought I
had read somewhere in the support that there has been trouble with
Roadrunner and STN.

Any news on this as well or how one configures for this would be
helpful.

Thanks
ARnie
