I just registered and installed STN, works great and was easy to
set up (after I gave up on my SMC1211TX and traded for a 3COM 905b).
Just have a couple questions/observations:
Using external com interface is it possible to have more than
one phone number - I have two local to me with my ISP.
My ISP (and others) assign nameservers in the ppp negotiation
(I believe using a proposed MS extension to ppp), can STN use
this? If not, is it possible to add alternate nameservers?
Can the fw be configured to log connect attempts? RAM is not
a problem.
In the WebAdmin:
1. Advanced Menu under Services, Name Server does nothing.
2. All the status displays that show hostname appear to
use only the "host bits" to match ip address to host
name. My host named 'cobra' with ip 192.168.1.100 showed
up as 'robert' because I have an entry in the host table
for 'robert' with an ip address (real internet address
outside my network) ending in .100
3. Under the simple menu could a link be added to the
connect log?
Is there a way for the STN box to notify other hosts on the
internal net of a reconnect with the assigned IP (mine is
dynamic) and the gateway IP?
