One thing to check. Around here (note @home) they tie access to the MAC of
the ethernet card the cable modem connects to. If you want to connect to
another computer you have to call them and give them the new MAC number.
You could try moving the ethernet card from the box they installed it on to
the STN box or try booting STN on the box they installed it on to see if it
connects.

Subject: [ShareTheNet] Problems getting to internet

I just got my @home cable the other day. I heard about STN and decided to
give it a try. I love it and even ordered it today, but I am having one big
problem now. I think the answer is simple. I had it working all day
yesterday, but today I cannot get it to work even after I read the FAQ and
the discussions and tried several different configurations. My cable access
still works fine as long as I use the box they installed it on. As far as
when hooked to the STN box, I can ping both nic's from my internal network.
I am not familiar with linux and do not know how to ping from there. The
internal nic is 192.168.0.101 and the external nic is 24.2.172.162(static).
I have tried dns off/on, name server 192.168.0.101, my @home's dns address,
and even blank. Still no success. What am I doing wrong? Is anyone else
having the same problem or have I overlooked some obvious setting? Please
help.

Thanks,
