"BTW, I installed ICQ 99b Beta v.3.19 build 2569. Please, if
you do share problems on this list, also share the specific
version of the software you're using. I did notice that
this is beta software, and that the 98a version I was using
before works without a hitch."

Hi John, I too am running the same ICQ build but then again I downloaded the
newest ICQ whenever I saw another one come out since I was having that
problem. Running Win98SE with all current patches from MS's security
update. Connection through ADSL. Was running STN 2.13. I went as far as
reinstalling Win98SE from scratch (deleting the Windows directory and
Program Files) and the problem still occured. Swapped out network card.
Was running one Intel EtherExpress 16 and one 3COM 905 then replaced the
Intel with another 3COM 905. Problem was still there. My ICQ list consists
of about 30 people. When I did the reinstall I just saved the 99b directory
and copied it right back in and noticed that it saves alot of the
preferences too. So who knows what else could've been tweaked that could be
causing the problems. But I followed the FAQ suggestions for ICQ and
QuickTime 4.0 so those are the only manual commands that are running. As
far as being reproducable. It appears random to me. I didn't even notice
it until my brother was complaining about me going online and offline all
the time. I guess the people that have their sound set for the knocking
would be bothered by that. Since I went to STN 2.10 I haven't had an ICQ
problem on my end that I'm aware other than overnight it disconnected me
from the ICQ network but that could be just their server. I've asked
several people on my list to monitor my activity and I haven't had any
instances of people telling me of dropping offline then back on. Prior to
going back to 2.10, I've had multiple messages received to the destination
party when they're offline and I get a message that tells me I'm not
connected to the ICQ network and asks if I want to send the message through
ICQ server. Everything appears to still work as far as being able to
receive and send files, chat, instant messages.

Now on another note, is it overkill to be running another firewall on top of
STN? I'm running Conseal Private Desktop since there basically isn't any
logging currently. I wanted to see if I had any weird activity overnight.
Recently I found that another person that has ADSL that I know has been
getting alot of these type of logging errors on my end. This is what I've
been getting:

1999/09/29 2:07:18 AM GMT -0800: 3Com Fast EtherLi..[0001][Unknown Traffic]
 Blocking incoming TCP: src=216.102.x.x, dst=192.168.0.3, sport=1204,
 dport=20308.
1999/09/29 2:08:36 AM GMT -0800: 3Com Fast EtherLi..[0001][Unknown Traffic]
 Blocking incoming TCP: src=216.102.x.x, dst=192.168.0.3, sport=1205,
 dport=20308.
1999/09/29 2:08:39 AM GMT -0800: 3Com Fast EtherLi..[0001][Unknown Traffic]
 Blocking incoming TCP: src=216.102.x.x, dst=192.168.0.3, sport=1206,
 dport=20308.

I get multiple entries of the same thing and different ports. Tons of them
at a time and eventually it will stop. Is it due to the multiple firewall
setup? He too is running a firewall AtGuard and this was happening before
installing that. His IP is the only one that generate those messages and he
tells me his ICQ is doing it.
