Either way Mobil1 is much more slippery than conventional 5w30 and that is
the underlying problem with using it in a tranny and why it should be
avoided.
Whether they want to start with dinojuice and make it into their highly
refined basestock or start at the lab ultimately it doesn't matter much
since they end up with pretty much the same chemical properties.
It is always about cheaper in this world. If the petroleum base gets
expensive they will switch back to the true syntehtic one...

The only synthetic i'll use is RedLine.
20k service limit for oils and 100k+ for gear lubes

formula and raised the price. The
story is that when they lost the lawsuit against Castrol for labelling an
oil that uses group III base a "synthetic", Mobil 1 switched from a group
IV base down to a group III as well. I still have some old stock of M1,
but once that's gone I plan to switch to RP. They cost the same, retail.

but since M1 is no longer a true synthetic anyway, it

So who makes a 100% synthetic oil?
When did Mobile 1 change?
