There are some shops that can fix them.  I have one for my SL sitting in 
a box in my attic.  It's really not a very good unit by todays 
standards, since they skip like crazy and the tuners really aren't that 
great.  I have the rest of the system installed, but just have a harness 
for my Clarion unit that I normally have in it, and the amp is normally 
off to when the Clarion is installed.  I just swap them out for car 
shows.  Takes about 10 minutes to swap stereos!  And that way the 
original one should work for years...
