Howard, Either is a good choice. The 5w30 motor oil will work if your going to change it a lot and the Redline MTL is a good long term addition with better additives for the life of the transmission. Don't use a synthetic motor oil like Mobil 1 and such as it's not compatible with the syncro operation of the transmission and can cause grinding. Hi Cliff: speaking of 5 speeds, I have a 87 Shelby Z bought used with a wonderful shifting 5 speed. Can't leave well enough alone would like to change the tranny fluid as I am doing with all the other fluids. Am I going to use 5W-30 engine oil or Redline MTL 70W80? All the opinions I've seen seem to be 50/50 for either one Thanks Howard Cunning **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food.
