According to the 1989 Daytona factory literature I have a standard non tilt
column came on the base and ES Daytona and the tilt column was available on
these in the popular equipment discount package.
The Daytona ES Turbo and Daytona Shelby came standard with the tilt column.
Your best bet would be to find a base 89 Daytona with the non-tilt column.

I found out on my 89 daytona shelby tII that the tilt lever broke on the
column. So the column broke off by the lever also. I figure that the lever
also holds the connecting rod to the switch. Can this be welded? The guy whom
fixes steering columns says its no good. What I also want to know, is there a
non tilt column that fits the 89 daytona or did they all come with tilt
steering?
