Hello everyone. I've been on the list for years, but rarely post. I just
don't have anything to add to most of the topics that doesn't get posted by
someone else. I have a question That some of you may have an answer to. I
will be doing an engine change on my '82 Rampage Sport shortly. Eventually I
plan to change over to a a523 trans from the current automatic. I would like
to use the auto tranny to get it driving with the stock drive train until
everything is rebuilt to finish the changeover. The '82 trans (6 bolt crank
engine) uses the 3 bolt converter. The new (8 bolt crank) engine uses the 4
bolt converter. In comparing the two flex-plates I see one hole that is
squared up on the sides on both as though to be an indexing hole. If I align
the index holes and re-drill the 4 bolt flex plate for the remaining two holes
will the timing mark end up in the right place to time the engine? The final
outcome will be a '87 GLH-S powered '82 Rampage.
Thanks for any insight,
Rex
