Hi,

If you're on the turbododge forum, there's a couple links to doing the job. As
for the joints themselves, I found this site to be great.
http://racingrodends.com/ They have very inexpensive heim joints. On that
page, scroll down to "economy rod ends" Then click and get the "male and
female" "Right hand" threads. Then the 3/8" size. I don't know what the
shipping is now, but when I bought them, the shipping was like $8.00 whether I
got one or a hundred. So I got enough for a few sets. (Last I saw, I thought
it said free shipping) The rod ends themselves are like $3.15 each. They're
more like $10+ anywhere local if you can find them at all. I'll add a link to
the turbododge thread that tells a bit about the linkage. When I made mine, I
bought 3/8" steal rod and bent my own and threaded them for the rod ends. (heim
joints) A lot of people knock the old plastic joints off their original
linkage rods. But if you do that, you spend a lot of time trying to adjust the
!
lengths. If you use your originals as patterns and build the new ones from
scratch, you can get them the correct size from the start and be finished once
they're installed.
The rod ends to get are the 3/8" size. You will need 4-female ends and one
male. You'll need some cone washers for spacing. I didn't know that when I
bought my rod ends. I ended up finding a 3/8' ID stainless tube and just cut
up 1/4" long spacers to slip on the bolts that go through the joints. Then go
to a hardware store and get some 3/8" shoulder bolts and some nylon locking
nuts. (I forgot what you call those) Pull all the brackets off the car. You
just have to grind off the old steel ball off the bracket and punch them out.
Then either drill out the brocket slightly larger or maybe thread it. I think
I just drilled and used the locking nuts and that was good enough. Mine has
worked fine for few years now. I need to do a few more sets for the rest of my
cars.
Email me if you have any questions. It's really simple to do. Just getting
started is the hardest part. At least for me.

I guess that thread was for something else but may give you an idea of where to
go for the rod ends. (See post #2. That was mine)
Good luck!

Subject: SD> Heim joints for GLHS

Hello All,I drove my GLHS to work one day last week and when leaving for
lunch the owner of the company came wheeling into the parking lot pretty fast.
He scared the "shift" out of my GLHS and now one of the rod joints is missing
its insert. Does anyone know of a website that shows how to update the joints
with Heim joints? I have checked it out on Grainger.com and there seems to be
several choices. Thanks!Mike Walker87 Shelby Charger GLHS
