Roy, I used to have great success with my 87 CSX passing smog checks in Chicago. In fact the car passed both the basic sniffer test and new dyno tests with a "race ported" cat...
The engine was 100% stock from top to bottom except the "ported" cat and: 14deg timing, 12deg minimum 87 Stage 2 Logic Module Also ran stock rn12yc plugs (they burn cleaner than the 9's people run when running higher boost) Also one bottle of HEET to a 1/4 tank as mentioned the alcohol helps. Look for ISO HEET to be safer for the seals Good luck!
