The SRT4 can use the 89-94 non vented rotors but the 89-94 cars can't use the SRT4 rear rotors directly unless you put a 1/8" spacer between the rotor and hub. Without the spacer the SRT4 rotor (or any neon rotor) is too deep and hits the 89-94 backing plate.
One other method I have found is that you can use 85+ rear drum hubs with the Neon rotors and it fixes the issue because the rear drum hubs are spaced outward 6mm relative to the rear disc hubs. 85+ rear spindles are all compatible. I have also used rear drum hubs with both vented and non vented rear rotors from the 89-94 cars. I currently have the following setup on my GLHS: 89-94 backing plates. 87 GLHS rear drum hubs. 95-99 Neon rotors (only 9lbs instead of 11 for the 89-94 rotors). That setup makes everything work with no spacers required and there are a lot more choices for Neon rotors than non vented 89-94 rotors these days. I also drilled out the rear drum hubs to use larger splined rear studs with a 37/64 drill bit so that I could run the longer 98 ford taurus wheels studs. -Rich On Sun, 20 Nov 2011, Neil Emiro wrote: > Date: Sun, 20 Nov 2011 13:46:29 -0700 > From: Neil Emiro <[email protected]> > To: 'David Reynolds' <[email protected]>, [email protected] > Subject: Re: SD> Shelby (or other) Rear disc SHOES > > It should be noted that while R/T rotors do indeed work on an SRT-4, the > offset of the rotor face is slightly different, effectively putting the > rotor off center in the caliper's travel.
