reason to not use ksh93 for user root as default? Are there some
Solaris-internal scripts which still don't work well with ksh93?

The main issues are ones of compatibility for scripts and users who
rely on the old /bin/ksh behavior. We need to investigate and fix,
if necessary, Solaris internal scripts and provide tools for external
users and other consolidations (outside of OS-Net) to fix their
ksh scripts to work with ksh93. Before we replace /usr/xpg4/bin/sh
we will also need to investigate and fix standards-related bugs.
The test cases for standards violations is something I still owe
Glenn & David at AT&T.
