>SHA'BAN CELEBRATION AND ITS BLESSINGS.
>The Islamic Movement in Nigeria held annual Sha'ban celebration marking the
>birthday anniversary of the promised Imam Al-Mahdi (AJ) at the Movement’s
>Islamic Center in Zaria on 15th Sha’ban 1430 (6/8/09).
>Well decorated Fudiyyah Center, being the venue, was full of people that
>comprised of Members of the Movement, distinguished invited guests, some
>family members and childhood friends of Sheikh Zakzaky.
>Sheikh Zakzaky started by speaking on the Signs of God which he said is many.
>He mentioned of the creation of moon and sun- for counting and keeping
>calendar; eclipses of both sun and moon as Signs (ayah) of Allah adding that
>changes in weather and climate are all His signs too.
>The leader went further to mention the bounties of Allah on Muslims where he
>said the Night of Power (laylatul Qadr) is one of them as mentioned in the
>holy Quran. He added that keeping vigil in acts of worship in the night is
>better than worship for 1000 nights- an equivalent of 84 years of worship. The
>Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWA) are so much favored by Allah, he said, as
>the previous nations, like the Ummah of Prophet Isa (AS) used to have the
>night once in hundred years while this Ummah have the night every month of
>Ramadan.
>As reported in the sayings of the Ahlul Bayt AS ( prophet’s household) , the
>leader expressed further that, the 15th night of Sha’ban is at the same
>footing with the Night of Power with respect to the 12 Infallible Imams( the
>Leaders of Muslims and right successors of the Prophet Muhammad alaihimus
>salam). It is in the 15th Night of Sha'ban the budget of activities regarding
>the creations is being done-they include all aspects of both individual and
>collective issues like death, birth, provisions, wars, even those who will go
>to Mecca for Hajj are listed on that night etc, sheikh noted.
>He added that one of the twelve Imams was reported to have said during hajj,
>that only his own Hajj and that of one person he mentioned was accepted by
>God. However, the person mentioned y the Imam did not perform Hajj that year,
>but upon investigation it was found that the person intended to go for Hajj
>that year but was unable to do it because his neighbor was very poor and was
>in need of provision and so the man gave all his money to the poor man, thus
>he performed hajj too. The leader added that weather one did not physically go
>on Hajj journey as long as Allah listed him among pilgrims during the 15th
>Sha'ban, and could not do it for genuine reasons, will have its rewards. He
>lamented that most of pilgrimages nowadays are useless trips and those who
>perform it will have nothing of its rewards or blessings for many reasons.
>The leader therefore called on Muslims to keep vigil in acts of worship likes
>Prayers, dhikrs and supplications in
> the whole night in order to have its full blessings. It’s a blissful night
> which its knowledge is not hidden to many Sunni scholars and as such people
> should not call worship in it as innovation. The holy Quran clearly
> criticizes all gatherings except one in which there is enjoining people to
> charity deeds; one in which there is enjoining people to good or reconciling
> others. Convergence of people doing invocation of Allah’s name or sending
> prayers to the Prophet can never be called a wasted effort. Absent of
> invocations and salawats in any gathering is a lost and it will amount to
> regret to the people in it, the leader explained.
>On the issue of Imamate.
>The leader of the Islamic Movement said the issue of 12 Imams is well known
>among adherents of different religions; it is also mentioned in the Bible. In
>Sunni books it is reported that the successors after the Prophet are 12 in
>number. Jews and Christians also believe in the coming of a savoir towards the
> End of Time. He lamented that most of the Sunni scholars, despite the fact
>the they read about the 12 imams, could not mentioned them by names. It is a
>topic of discussions among them as most of them could only mention a few,
>less than the 12. But there is another school in Islam- the Shia which, not
>only has their exact number but with their names too.
>Therefore the issue of 12 Imams and Al-Mahdi(AJ) is common to both Sunni and
>Shia; no doubt about his coming to restore peace and justice, Sheikh noted.
>According Sunni report ,Sheikh Zakzay further said the Prophet, in one of his
>saying expressed that if you see a people carrying a black flag from
>Khurasan( presently in Iran), no matter what, try and join them, because
>Mahdi will be among them. Sheikh Zakzaky therefore noted that the Issue of
>Mahdi is known to all Schools of Thought.
>He added that the world is now full of Injustice and one may ask ‘when is the
>reappearance of the Imam?’. The knowledge of the time of his reappearance lies
>with Allah alone, Sheik noted adding that Prophet Isa (AS) will come back too
>according to Sayings in Ahaddeth and he will be a helper and supporter of the
>Imam(AJ).
> His Birth and Reappearance.
>The leader of the Islamic Movement explained that the long awaited Survivor of
>Humanity will reappear toward the End of Time; he is not going to be born
>adding that all books of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jama’ah made mention of reappearance
>too . Also research into the Sunni books revealed that he had been born long
>ago.
>In was reported that Imam Hasan Asksary(AS) the father of Imam Mahdi(AJ) was
>put under serious surveillance and intense observation by the rulers of his
>time to know of any new born baby so that he will be killed. So later on, in
>effort to frustrate the coming of the 12th Imam- AlMahhi, the rulers decided
>to kill Imam Hasan(AS) . He was killed at the age of 25.
>The disciples of the Imam Hasan continued with their normal activities without
>worries with guidance and order from the 12th Imam. These raised doubts in
>the minds of the enemies and decided to carry out investigation which they
>discovered that the 12th Imam already existed.
>His Birth.
>Sheikh narrated that the birth of Imam Mahdi (a.s) was a miraculous one, just
>like that of Prophet Isa(AS). In the 255 AH, Imam Hasan(AS) ordered his sister
>to wait behind to nurse Narjis as she would born a child. She waited for her
>belief in the Imam and Narjis delivered a pure and clean baby on Friday the
>15th of Night of Sha’ban towards the morning hours. Sheikh Zakzaky added that
>despite the fact that intelligence was put in the house to report any strange
>incidents to the enemies, they did not know about the birth.
>Imam Hasan ordered his disciples to follow the little child and asked them to
>speak to him; whereupon they questioned ‘how can we communicate with a child
>in cradle’. The little boy answered’ Im servant of God’. This is miracle
>from God. Up to his adulthood , Allah protected him from enemies and later he
>disappeared , Sheikh Zakzaky noted adding that:
>-His birth and disappearance are just like that of Prophet Isa(AS ) and;
>-Full knowledge about him is with very few, just like that of Prophet Isa(AS)
>too.
>The Leader added that although knowledge about his birth is with few just
>like that of Prophet ISA(AS) it does not mean that it is unreachable; it is
>available for those who care to know. The 15th night of Sha’ban got another
>added values and bounties with the birth of Imam Mahdi (AS) in it.
>Boko Haram- Plots of the Enemies
>The leader of the Islamic Movement described the recent crises which affected
>some northern states as the creation of enemies of Islam.
>Boko Haram is a plot created by the enemies to attack Islam, that is why any
>one with Islamic symbol like beard, Hijab or short trousers is being attacked
>and killed.
>The report of book haram came from them as they used somebody as scapegoat to
>kill people. The arrogant Powers are after oil, which America wants to take.
>It is the same strategy they used in Congo being a country with deposit of
>natural resources. Congo and Russia are the two countries that have deposit of
> the type of natural resources they want; so for the fact that they cannot
>attack Russia to take it, they caused crises in Congo and with that they were
>able to take what they wanted. Crises in Darfur is also for oil, he added
>Sheikh Zakzaky expressed his dismay over the views of some clerics on the
>issue of Boko Haram where some of the Ulema told Government not to give the
>Boko haram members a respite.
>The leader expressed that for a fact that some body opines that western
>education is a sin, he should not be killed as he was not born with view and
>he may change it later; no body is born with an opinion. And now they left the
>issue of Jos massacres aside.
>He added that the excuse given by government for its harsh step on book haram
>members is that they attacked and killed policemen, if that is the case those
>responsible for killing of men of Police should be apprehended and be taken to
>Court to face the charges.
>He noted that even the northern states governors during their meeting recently
>praised the governors of the affected states for the stance step they took!!
>Alas, book haram is their own creation to perpetuate their evil agenda..
>Muhammad Yusuf is their making whom they groomed, the leader added.
>The leader prays for Allah’s protection against their evils and plots. He also
>prayed for Allah to take revenge for those innocent souls killed during the
>crises.
>Sheikh Spoke on Bounties of Allah.
>Sheikh while speaking on the bounties of Allah on him, expressed his profound
>gratitude to Him, who made him in the service of Islam at a time when most
>saw it as retrogressive and uncivilized.
>He also thanked Allah for the educational achievements (both Islamic and
>western), which was another favor from Him. He recalled that during school
>days- 1974-78, the issue of Future of Nigeria was prevalent among students.
>Some thought of Communism and which government of that time did not like,
>while others came with many conflicting ideologies. He added that School,
>being an environment which makes person thinks, he realized that Islam is
>the only answer to the Future of Nigeria for many reasons- history, culture
>and tradition that reflect Islam.
>He further said that the success of Islamic Revolution in Iran under
>Ayatullah Khomeini(QS), which changed the world View, revealed more on that
>too.
>The leader, born 58 years ago according to Hijri calendar or 56years according
>to Gregorian, expressed his gratitude for the years well spent in the service

>The celebration was marked with dinner too. Birthday gifts were presented to
