*The Shaykh’s advice to the Muslims *

So, O brothers and sisters! I advise you to follow the Prophet صلى الله عليه
وسلم and exemplify his Sunnah in your everyday actions. Anyone who carefully
considers the Seerah, looks into it and studies it would begin by looking at
how Allaah سبحانه وتعالى nurtured the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in his
early life when he was a child. He says in the Qur'aan:

 أَلَمْ يَجِدْك َيَتِيمًا فَآوَى {6} وَوَجَدَكَ ضَالًّا فَهَدَى {7}
وَوَجَدَكَ عَائِلًا فَأَغْنَى
*{ Did He not find you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) an orphan and gave
you a refuge? And He found you unaware (of the Qur'aan, its legal laws, and
Prophethood, etc.) and guided you? And He found you poor, and made you rich
(self-sufficient with self-contentment, etc.)?.}* [Ad-Duha 93:6-8]

Look at how Allaah سبحانه وتعالى nurtured the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم
even when he was a child. He صلى الله عليه وسلم was the same individual who
lost his father before his birth and then lost his mother after his birth.
We look at the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم in his adolescence – the time of
an individual’s youth could be a period where he would be led astray. How
many of us see our children in the prime of their youth – their youth being
a fitnah and something that could lead them astray. Look at how Allaah
سبحانه وتعالى preserved him even in his youth. Then look at how the Prophet
صلى الله عليه وسلم went from that stage to someone who used to work, someone
who was involved in merchandising – buying and selling, then he went from
that to being a Da'ee (caller to the Deen of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى) and then
he went on to become a husband and a father, a worker, someone who was the
leader of an army, a judge, to the end of the different characteristics of
the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. This would only be understood and recognized
by looking at the Seerah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم – you would see
the different titles and the different roles that he صلى الله عليه وسلم took
on as his life progressed. We ask Allaah سبحانه وتعالى to give us
*tawfeeq*– the success that we could sit at another time and mention
something more
in-depth regarding the Seerah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. I seek the
pardon of the brothers and sisters and I excuse myself after this. If there
are any questions then we will take a few question Inshaa’Allaah.

*QUESTIONS & ANSWERS*

1. *Question:* Is it okay for a Da'ee to appear on television for lectures?

*Answer:* That which we know, is that if there is a *maslahah* (a benefit)
in the Da'ee’s participating on a program on the television station i.e. if
there is a benefit in it for the Da'wah or for guidance of the people, even
though there might be some things which are detrimental as the 'Ulamaa’
mentioned about taking pictures and the images and the like; but there is a
large group of the 'Ulamaa’ who also have an opinion that this is totally
permissible if there is some benefit in it, as it relates to the Da'wah – to
calling to Allaah سبحانه وتعالى and guiding the people to that which is
correct. Then there is a group of the 'Ulamaa’ who have what is called an
‘agreement’ amongst themselves, that if in fact there is a *maslahah* in the
Da'ee participating on a television program like this, then this is totally
permissible.

Some of our senior scholars here in the Mamlakah (Kingdom) and outside of
the Mamlakah have participated on programs on the television. The likes of
Shaykh Ibn Baaz رحمه الله تعالى and Shaykh 'Uthaymeen رحمه الله تعالى have
participated on numerous programs on the television. That is from looking at
the *maslahah* – the benefit which is found in it. There is also the fact
that nowadays the television is one of the biggest tools for spreading
Da’wah. So if in fact there is a realm that is open for the Da'ee to spread
the correct information about Islaam then he should take advantage of it if
there is a *maslahah*, if there is a benefit in it.

There is also something which I wanted to mention, and that is regarding
spreading information on the Internet about the Da’wah and about Islaam. We
find that many of those who seek to corrupt the religion of Islaam and to
corrupt the Muslims are using this tool to spread false information about
Islaam. I wonder why those people who have the *haqq* (truth), why are they
taking so long to stand up with the truth? Why have they delayed spreading
and taking advantage of this tool (the internet) to spread the truth about
Islaam? In as much as this is one of the tools that is used to spread
corrupt information about Islaam and to corrupt the Muslims, then it is not
appropriate for those who have the *haqq* to delay or lag behind in taking
advantage of using the internet to spread authentic information about
Islaam.

2. *Question:* My grandma owes $100,000 in debt and wants to make hajj, what
is your advice?

*Answer:* It is incumbent upon any individual who wants to perform the
compulsory Hajj to first and foremost return the rights that he owes to
anyone – especially debts. This is because the debt in Islaam is a matter
which is *very serious* as the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم on one occasion
even refused to pray over someone who died leaving a debt.[7]

As it relates to this situation, if the person to whom your grandmother owes
the debt (the lender) is not in a hurry to receive the money, rather they
understand that it may be a difficulty, and they don’t have a problem
receiving it in payments or even receiving it after some time, then that is
not a problem. Even if the individual wanted to make Hajj and she gave the
lender a small lump sum from the money that she has which she is going to
use for Hajj, then that is the best thing to do. Before making Hajj, any
extra money that is available to pay the lender can be used i.e. money that
would have been used for non-essential expenses (like shopping etc.) during
the Hajj trip may instead be paid to the lender. This is the best thing to
do.

But let’s say that the individual doesn’t do this, and she makes Hajj
without giving the lender anything, then her Hajj is *saheeh* (correct).
However, what was incumbent upon her – what was more appropriate was that
she gave or offered the lender some money, even if a small lump sum. This is
the best thing to do, but if in fact she does make the Hajj without doing
this then the Hajj is still correct.
