The start of the blessed month of Zilhijjah on the 1st coinciding with the Gregorian calendar date of 8th and 9th of November which commemorate with the finest wedding on earth of Our 1st Imam Hazrat Ali Mutaza (a s ) with the only daughter of the Prophet of Islam Janabe Fatimah Zehra (saa) ..If it is followed in letter and spirit with the Mehr e Fatimi which is just approximatelly five thousand in Indian currency even in these days of high inflation .( Equivalent of 480 Dirham or 1.25 Kgrams of Silver When the proposal came the Rasool e Islam asked the prospective groom what he has for giving Mehr other expenses, he told him he has a Sword and a shield as his sole possession . Rasool e Akram (saaws) said a sword is necessary for a brave person to defend himself and the deen but for such a brave person as Ali , a shield is hardly necessary so the Shield was given to Hazrat Salman e farsi (a s ) to sell it off and buy the important necessities for the wedding feast and to provide Bride the mehr money . If the Prophet of Islam (s.a..a w s.) had wished, he would have performed this marriage on a lavish scale, befitting his social and religious status. But the wedding was very simple and ordinary . If the Prophet (saaws) had wished, he would have celebrated this marriage on a grand scale by raising funds from some source or by borrowing.The total cost including dowry was approximately 500 Dirhams which included items like a Flour grinder , a few earthen wares and the beddings comprising of Mats and Hide spread and a dress of coarse cloth . Thus the blessed matrimony took place on the blessed 1st of this month which follows the day of Hajj on the ninth and. Sacrifice on the 10th. There are three Eids which follows the Eid al Azha on the 10th , Eid e Ghadeer on the 18th and Eid e Mobahila on the 24th. The birthday of our Imam Ali Naqi (a s ) the 10th successor of the Prophet of Islam is on the 15th and there are few sad notes too on the Martyrdom of Our Imam Mohammad Baqir (a s) the 5th Successor of the Prophet (saaws) , the Ambassador of the Shohada e Karbala (a s ) Hazrat Muslim ibne Aqeel (a s) , his 2 minor sons on the 5th,9th and 22nd respectively .
