The TinyProd repository (http://tinyprod.net/repos/debian) has been unofficially available for picking up various development packages needed for TinyOS development on Debian and Ubuntu.
The time has come to make it official and publiclly announce it. It has also been significantly reorganized. The main repository is still squeeze. It holds various general programs, nesc, tinyos-tools, and avr stuff. It also points to various legacy packages for using with prior to T2.1.2 (and development trunk) source codes. All the msp430 packages have been seperated into seperate repositories, msp430-45, -46, and -47, for each of the main toolchain flavors. The current toolchain to use for the trunk and for T2.1.2 is msp430-46. Do read the README-46 <http://tinyprod.net/repos/debian/README-46.html>. The squeeze repository also includes nesc-1.3.4 which you will want to install. It is fully backward compatible with older toolchains. It is also compatible with the experimental msp430 4.7 toolchain that will provide 20 bit support in the future (currently in beta). All msp430 tools live in a subdirectory off /opt (/opt/msp430-46, /opt/msp40-47, etc). This is to avoid collision with official distribution toolchains that will at some point in the near future become available. You will have to adjust your PATH variable to compensate (ie. add /opt/msp430-46/bin if you are using the msp430-46 toolchain). Now given the restructuring and possible changes in naming of various packages, it is best to remove and reinstall. Follow the instructions on the main README <http://tinyprod.net/repos/debian/README.html>. Let me know if you run into any problems. -- Eric B. Decker Senior (over 50 :-) Researcher
