I think it would be a good idea. We probably don't want a shindig-users list quite yet, but separating commits from normal discussion would be a good idea I think.
By the way -- any word on making SVN integrate with JIRA? It would be nice to be able to put SHINDIG-XXX in the commit messages and not have to remember revision numbers (and make typos in the process) when updating issues.
