Hi, I have lurked on the shindig dev list for a while and wanted to point out a virtual-machine based shindig server that we are assembling from the nightly build. I am with Cohesive Flexible Technologies - we have a service (Elastic Server On-Demand) for building virtual machine servers. Essentially it is a content system where the knowledge of what it takes to create a server or configure it can be captured once by the "inventors" or a knowledgeable enthusiast, making it much simpler for people who just want to use the server (and reducing the amount of "how do I make it work" questions for the inventors). Enough blather! Here is what we are doing... We grab Shindig and do a nightly build - then we autodeploy it as a component to our service and build virtual machine servers out of it in VMware, Parallels and Xen formats. These are available from a portal at: http://es.cohesiveft.com/site/shindig-2 Alternatively, you can build a new server which allows you to easily use your Amazon EC2 creds or add in other components you want with the server. Registration is not required (although appreciated) - we have an auto-guest system that lets you just try things out.
