Perhaps others can give a more official response to the viability of what you're proposing, but just to reassure you:
2. I'm building my web site in PHP, but making use of the Java version of Shindig. I'm using mod_jk or similar on Apache to pipe requests to the Java component on to the Tomcat server; that way, it all appears to be running on the same server and port. 3. I'm compiling (and doing basic testing) on Windows, then uploading the war file directly to a UNIX server where it runs fine, without modification. As for 1, I see no reason why not (and as I said, it has worked for me in testing/dev). Of course, if anyone can think of features that I'm not using but Will might have trouble with on Windows, then I hope they'll speak up. Very new to this and I wanted to know the following. 1. Can I run shindig on a Windows server? 2. Do I have to use Java for the application I will be building, or can i use another technology such as ASP.NET? 3. Is it possible to install Shindig on a linux server, but then build our application on a Windows server and still make sure of Shindig? Thanks for the replies. ********************************* This message, together with any attachments, is intended only for the use of the individual or entity to which it is addressed and may contain information that is privileged, confidential and exempt from disclosure. if you are not the intended recipient, you are hereby notified that any dissemination, distribution, or copying of this message, or any attachment is strictly prohibited.
