Hi all,

A group of us over here at Google have recently completed a round of
updates to a gadget that tests spec compliance of OpenSocial
containers. We've released the gadget to open source, and are looking
for others to join us in using and developing the gadget.

The test gadget can be found at:
http://opensocial-resources.googlecode.com/svn/tests/trunk/suites/0.7/compliance/reference/reference.xml

We've written up some documents you might find useful. Here's an
intro:
http://code.google.com/p/opensocial-resources/wiki/ComplianceTests

And a technical doc, including how to get the source from svn and
design details:
http://code.google.com/p/opensocial-resources/wiki/OpenSocialTestFramework

This compliance gadget is primarily focused on being a tool for
container implementers, but it can also be useful to investigate what
an app developer is able to do on a given container. Previously Lane
LiaBraaten proposed that such a gadget could generate a report
(against an XML schema) to be used in documents in a wide variety of
ways. One of the most obvious needs is a matrix of "who supports
what", and we're planning to keep working on that. Any feedback on the
XML schema would be great. Here's the thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/opensocial-and-gadgets-spec/browse_thread/thread/728de8e1a42553d2/6af183ff5b11e2dd

Please take a look and let us know how the gadget works for you.
We're looking forward to working with others to make the gadget as
accurate and useful as possible, add more tests, and expand coverage
to include the 0.8 spec.

Thanks,
-Eric, Shreyas, and Seshu
